Education at Rishon

Lifelong learning is an integral part of the Rishon community, acting as the cement which makes our foundation so strong! We offer a wide variety of educational opportunities to intrigue and motivate both our children and our adult congregants.

For our children, it all begins with our creative Andrew Friedland Early Childhood Learning Center programs and continues with our extensive Addison M. & Elizabeth Opper Religious School offerings, including bar/bat mitzvah training and Confirmation classes for our teens.

Our Adult Education classes range from formal courses led by our clergy to intimate discussion groups to guest speakers which provide stimulating and timely commentary to a monthly Jewish themed book club.

Preschool & Camp

The Andrew Friedland Early Childhood Learning Center is a fully licensed preschool that provides a strong, developmentally appropriate secular academic program. We take a kind, caring, child-centered approach and believe that children learn best from engaging in exciting hands-on activities. Small class sizes and a private school curriculum also set our preschool program apart.

Camp Little Feet is an exciting, engaging, and loving summer experience for preschool aged children. With tons of daily activities and swimming lessons at Goldfish Swim School, Camp Little Feet is wonderful summer fun.

Religious School

The Addison M. & Elizabeth Opper Religious School is an exciting school with a knowledgeable and caring staff.

The importance of Tzedakah and mitzvot are values we strongly support and emphasize in our teachings.

Children are exposed to Jewish traditions, holidays, and history. They learn to read Hebrew and lead our congregation in prayer in preparation for their bar/bat mitzvah as well as their future integration into the Jewish community. Our high school students may participate in post bar/bat mitzvah study which culminates in a Confirmation class.

Giving a Lecture
Adult Education

We greatly value the Jewish tradition of thoughtful lifelong study and have integrated it into the tapestry of our synagogue experience.

We offer a wide variety of daytime, evening, weekday and Shabbat educational programs, taught either by our clergy, by guest speakers and scholars, or led by our own members in a shared learning experience.

Graduates of our Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah program unanimously agree that not only has it greatly enriched their lives but also became one of their proudest moments and memories.
