New Clergy Starting July 1!

Temple Beth Rishon is excited to welcome new Clergy leadership of Rabbi Joshua Waxman and Cantor Olivia Brodsky to the community as of July 1st, 2021.

Rabbi Waxman comes to us from Pennsylvania, where he served as the rabbi of Congregation Or Hadash and as the President of the Board of Rabbis of Greater Philadelphia. A graduate of Harvard University and the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, Waxman is a Wexner Graduate Fellow and has been deeply involved in civic and interfaith issues as a member of the Religious Leaders Council of Greater Philadelphia.

Cantor Brodsky has been serving as the cantorial intern at Congregation Rodeph Sholom in New York City. Brodsky studied at Tufts University and New England Conservatory of Music dual-degree program. She has a Master of Sacred Music from Hebrew Union College and will receive her Cantorial Ordination from HUC-JIR’s Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music on May 2, 2021.

The efforts of our rabbinic and cantorial search committees during this difficult COVID time period have been rewarded by the hire of these two highly educated and skilled spiritual leaders who share our passion for Torah study, interfaith outreach and musical services. Rabbi Waxman and Cantor Brodsky share similar commitments to enriching our congregation’s and the greater Jewish community’s lives across a broad spectrum of spiritual and demographic needs. Together, they bring compassion, knowledge, leadership and beautiful voices to Temple Beth Rishon. We look forward to introducing them to the Bergen community and invite everyone to come meet them!
