The Social Action committee at TBR helps to coordinate a variety of temple and community wide activities that help to give back to those in need as well as raising awareness about Jewish/Israel issues within the community.

Our activities include:

  • Coordinating Temple Beth Rishon's annual Mitzvah Day/Murray Prawer Walk;

  • Monthly food drives and collections of other items needed by the community;

  • Passover holiday donations to nursing homes;

  • Coordination of temple activities for Jewish Federation Mitzvah Day;

  • Volunteering at Valley Hospital during the Christmas & Easter Holidays;

  • Cooking and serving food for community shelters;

  • Coordinating the donation of winter holiday gifts through the Flames of Giving program;

  • Educating teens about the BDS movement.

We are always seeking new members who are interested in giving back and being involved in Tikkun Olam.

Please join us in helping our neighboring communities! We welcome anyone who is interested in helping the Social Action committee and we look forward to hearing new ideas for future planning. Contact Abi Grossman or at 917-700-5900.

The January & February Food Drive will benefit The Emmanuel Cancer Foundation.

Please donate canned, jarred and boxed non-perishable items. Check expiration dates carefully!  Supermarket gift cards are also greatly appreciated. You may purchase Shop Rite cards directly from the Temple Office or call 201-891-4466.  This is a double mitzvah because the temple receives a percentage of the sale as well!

Collection baskets are located in the front lobby for your convenience.

Thank you for your generosity! Any questions, please contact Amy Tesser.
