Hello Friends. I cannot believe how fast the year is flying by. Here we are in December already, but don’t despair. December brings with it Chanukah and the joy we get from lighting the candles with our families for eight nights, as well as the pleasure we all take in eating wonderful potato latkes made from old family recipes, spinning dreidles and snacking on chocolate gelt.
Please remember that here at TBR we like to enjoy the holidays together with you and your families. As a reminder, this year our Chanukah dinner will take place on Friday, December 16th at 6 pm followed by Shabbat services at 7 pm. Please call the office to make reservations for the Chanukah dinner.
On Sunday, December 18th at 11:30am we will have our Chanukah candle lighting service in the sanctuary followed by Chanukah Fun Day. There will be great activities for the kids and of course, since it is the celebration of a Jewish holiday, there will again be FOOD to partake of. So gather up your families and come down to the temple and join us for both of these wonderful opportunities to gather our community together, share some prayer, some laughs, some camaraderie and most of all enjoy watching the kids run around and have a good time.
Please keep in mind that even though our Fall/Winter Bar and Bat Mitzvah season is winding down, our weekly Friday evening and Saturday morning Shabbat services continue. As we have done for the past few years, our last two Shabbats of December and all of our January and February Shabbat services will be held in the pre function room. These services are very intimate and participatory and we invite to join us in celebrating Shabbat together. I hope to see many of you there.
As we approach the end of the year I also want to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a very happy and healthy New Year. My wish for all of us is that 2012 is a year of happiness and goodness.
