Debby Landesman, an experienced Early Childhood educator, has joined Temple Beth Rishon’s Andrew Friedland Preschool as its Principal.
Debby Landesman comes to Temple Beth Rishon with over thirty years experience educating young Jewish children. She received her BS in education from the State University of New York at Cortland and did her graduate work at Columbia University's Teachers' College as well as William Patterson College. She spent the majority of her career as Director of Temple Emanuel's Early Childhood Program in Woodcliff Lake, and most recently, was the Preschool Director at Temple Beth Sholom in Fair Lawn.
Debby lives in Hillsdale, New Jersey, with her husband, Charles, who is a lawyer practicing in Kearny, New Jersey. They have two children and two grandchildren.
Debby believes that children grow and develop at their own rate and should be educated with dignity and respect for their individual needs. She believes that children learn best when they are engaged and involved, when they are nurtured, when they are encouraged to make discoveries and when they learn to take risks. The classroom is their community where they learn to respect others' thoughts, ideas and feelings. She is passionate about the importance of imbuing young Jewish children with their Jewish identity and hopes to instill a love of the customs and traditions of their heritage.
