SWEET TASTES OF TORAH:
A Community Night of Learning Celebrating the Music and Rhythm of Jewish Life
February 4, 2012 - Registration at 6:30PM at the Fair Lawn Jewish Center presented by the North Jersey Board of Rabbis
The theme is Shabbat Shirah: The Music and Rhythm of Jewish Life. Shabbat Shirah derives its name from the passage known as Shirat Hayam/ Song of the Sea that is read in the week’s Torah portion. Having safely crossed the Yam Soof or Red Sea, Moses and the people of Israel joyously sing this song of praise to God. Shabbat Shirah serves as reminder to us, their descendents, that all of life is a song. And so…hava nashira, let’s sing together the songs, the music, and the rhythms of Jewish life. For information, please click here.

Floating in the Dead Sea. Masada at sunrise. Bonding with new friends.
Perhaps you’ve had the time of your life on a Taglit-Birthright Israel trip. If not, chances are you know some of the 300,000-plus people who have.
But the chances are even greater that you know young people who haven’t yet taken advantage of this free, life-changing adventure. That’s why we’re asking you to help spread the word about Taglit-Birthright Israel: Hillel trips – known for being the “smart” choice because they’re designed to be fun and to forge a deeper, more meaningful connection to Israel and our heritage.
If you qualify for a trip – see the criteria below – then visit www.FreeIsraelTrip.org now to join our email notification list and receive a registration reminder.
Otherwise, please forward this message to anyone you know who would enjoy a free, smart trip to Israel. In order to be eligible, they must:
- be Jewish;
- be between the ages of 18 and 26; and
- have never participated in a peer trip to Israel.
But act today: Those interested in participating must visit www.FreeIsraelTrip.org as soon as possible to sign up for the latest news and registration info for our Winter 2011-12 trip!
And they should be sure to contact their local Hillel with any questions about their campus’s plans for this trip.
Thanks for helping us provide young people with the trip of a lifetime. It’s the smart thing to do!
